Once upon a time there was a small, medium hair, domesticated, black cat named Socrates. Socrates lived with his father, a young man from New York City. This young man and Socrates began home-distilling in their backyard in an old, falling apart, rickety, wooden shed, when they first moved to South Lake Tahoe. Every day when this young man distilled, Socrates would climb to the top of the shed and perch for hours on end, supervising from above, peering through a hole in the roof of the shed. Since then, and into perpetuity, Socrates has been known as the “Shedcat”, and he thrives to this day, mostly lounging in his throne at home, as is appropriate, due to the regal aura he infinitely projects.

 

            Due to Socrates’ highly demanding standards of excellence, here at Shedcat Distillery and Kitchen, we have adopted a unique and passion-fueled vision to break the mold of existing quality standards in food and beverage hospitality businesses currently in place in South Lake Tahoe, California.  We care deeply about our craft, seeking innovation and progression at every turn. It is our mission to provide our community and beyond with the highest quality of house-made, hand-made, from scratch, and artisan food and beverage items that the region has yet experienced.  At each and every available opportunity, under Socrates’ direct command, we seek to source our product ingredients locally, organically, and sustainably.  Everything is made completely from scratch!  With Socrates at the helm, we intend to create a legacy of transcendence above currently accepted food and beverage industry norms.
